Traveling Light

Back for another LIFE Nugget! I been spending some time as of late thinking about living with less. Is it possible that we spend way too much time preoccupied with things that weigh us down. We allow debt to weigh us down, demands on out time to weigh us down, gadgets weigh us down. I find myself beginning a quest for simplicity, if you will, traveling light.

Why is this important you ask? If we are traveling light we can be more mobile. We can react faster to the world around us. We can impact people much easier than if we are weighed down with the things life throws at us. Are their things in your life that keep you from impacting your world and serving God? How can you reorder your life so that you have more time with God, your family, and more time to pray and serve HIm?

Why not spend some time thinking about this? Traveling light is the way to go.

you know, justin, this is a good word.

ive got some irony for you. i've tried to live with this philosophy for a while. not owning too much stuff, and most of it fits in my car (as you remember, i'm sure!)

here's the irony: in an effort to keep things simple, when I was roughly 19 i started carrying a bag (bookbag...satchel...etc.) to carry what were essentially the only things i thought i needed...phone...wallet...books...hoodie...that was it.

now i'm always carrying a sh!tload of stuff in my bookbag. How's that for irony?

i too am trying to detach from some things. good word.

john and i don't have enough money to let too many things of this world weigh us down. problem solved!

on a more serious note, i definitely agree. i could live the rest of my life the way i am right now, knowing that most people around the world could never dream of having as much, and that nothing we acquire here means anything at all.
